product certification services for radio products and broadcasting

placed on the Canadian market

Before a device may be placed on the Canadian market, it must go through a review process by a certification body (CB) for compliance to ISED Canada's published radio and/or brodcasting specifications. Compliance results in the issuance of a Technical Acceptance Certificate (TAC) to the Applicant and listing of the product on ISED's Radio Equipement List (REL).

As a Certification Body (CB) recognized by Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) Canada, we are qualified to certify your equipment to ISED published specifications.

ISED Canada is the regulating authority for the radio spectrum shared by all transmitting devices in Canada. In order to ensure all types of devices operate in safe and harmonious manner, ISED has developed and published many Radio Standards Specifications (RSS) and Broadcasting Equipment Technical Standards (BETS) for Category I equipment that require certification. Applicants must follow the procedures in RSP-100 to compile an application package for review by a recognized certification. If the device is deemed compliant to all applicable Canadian regulations, a Technical Acceptance Certificate (TAC) is issued by the certification body, and equipment specifications will be published onto the Radio Equipment List (REL). The manufacturer may then go ahead and market its products on the Canadian marketplace. More information regarding the certification process and what types of documents you need to prepare can be found in our User Guide that can be found in the "Resources" tab to the right.
